When we arrived again, we had noticed that someone had taken these and spraypainted the outside of the bus. I a very ugly manner I have to add. Now, as artists we had several choices in this situation. We could have kept the spraypaint, talking about how the people now had truly interacted with the art. But this would have been to fetischise authenticity. What we did I think was much better, we also remodified the bus. Removed some paint, added other, filled in some earlier paintings and generally made it look much better from our point of view. In this way we claimed just the same control over the art as the people with the spray cans had claimed. It was only our position as artists that made it possible to do this after the exhibition was closed and therefor have the final “word”. The artist has an information advantage over the public in relation to the art.”

- Monki commenting on Copyriot, regarding the cliché of “art in public space”

Vladans photos from Trg Republica

Vladans photos from Trg Republica

Regarding the cliché of “art in public space”

Regarding the cliché of “art in public space”

Posing in from of by the pirate bus. We left as S23M, a deterritorialized project, leaving the bus behind.
One conclusion is that S23x must be at hand with the bus, or it will degrade.
Now, let’s reterritorialize it!

S23x evaluating S23M: first fragment

I think that our arival and our presence at the opening weekend easily made up the best contribution to Manifesta7 (or at least to the Ex-Alumix part). Since then, however, the bus as an object has degenerated into a crap piece of art. Still the video screened inside the bus is still, as an art video, definitely one of the very best at the whole exhibition – and the immediate context for the video screening (the middle part of the bus’ main room) is great, almost uncomparable to the rest of the inside, the outside, or the totality.

Autumn talk, part 4: The method of Kopimi

Autumn talk, part 1: Why copyright is now about tools, not works

Autumn talk, part 2: Bass and place, meaning and abundance

Autumn talk, part 3: Greyzone communities

Autumn talk, part 4: The method of Kopimi

Autumn talk, part 5: Afterthoughts

The anxious search for a solution might be necessary to trigger the process of moving on. But at a certain point the process always demands that this anxiety is unconditionally left behind. Now our main task can’t any more be to give more answers, to create more “content”, or to invent fresh business models. Much more relevant than drawing up blueprints for how stuff should work in the future, is to here and now try out new ways to put all existing content into context. The general problem is abundance, not scarcity. What counts in the end is action, not access. We are co-developing a method known as kopimi. It is about affirming the will to copy and to be copied. It is about accepting copying as something active and selective, not just a repetition of the same. It is, at the same time, about exploring that which can not be copied, that which slips away, and to enjoy it as it slips away. It is about valuing the very process of copying, while recognizing that no copy will be identical. Mutations always happens when as a copy is connected to another place and another time. Kopimi is an imperative – copy me! – not a theory. Thus it has no real origin, but is said to have emerged from a dance. When it is defined, it is always by means of selecting and copying definitions of other phenomena, letting these definitions mutate. That kind of processes is probably the only “alternative” to copyright that kopimi can propose – an alternative not for individual “artists”, but for artistic practice at large. Of course, answers will be formulated, “content” will be created, and business models will be invented. Don’t worry. From the perspective of kopimi, however, this comes merely as a side-effect to something much more crucial: The quest for ways to integrate the infinite abundance of information into our finite lives.

CrazyQ live

CrazyQ live

toa

toa

Dubmood live

Dubmood live

sur pensionär på semester i spanien

sur pensionär på semester i spanien

impish+altemark

impish+altemark
